While I preferred The Flying House (as noted in a Saturday Night Showcase), I did still enjoy Superbook, the more popular of the CBN/Tatsunuko co-productions and flagship (so to speak) of CBN’s children’s ministry to this day. (The series is also getting a reboot. But no love for the time machine crew as with the magic talking time-traveling bible.) As we close in on Christmas day, it would be wrong to not get in at least one Nativity telling, so let’s let Chris, Joy, Gizmo, and the magic bible take us to a little town called Bethlehem.

You can catch more episodes at the “on demand” section of CBN’s TV site, along with other shows like the unappreciated Flying House. If the video isn’t working up there (I’m having some trouble getting it to work in preview), try this link.

This is one of my favorite Christmas specials. I think it actually introduced me to the first Christmas– Jesus’ birth. I own the VHS, but it’s severely edited, so I missed out on Chris slingshoting the guards, and Gizmo knocking em down the cliff.

Also, have you seen the Talespin Christmas special ‘A Jolly Molly Christmas?’
