I picked up three Transformers comics this week, so I decided to alternate between Transformers and non-Transformers comics all week.
Transformers: Last Stand of the Wreckers #2
WRITERS: Nick Roche & James Roberts
PENCILER: Nick Roche
INKER: John Wycough
COLORIST: Josh Burcham
LETTERER: Neil Uyetake
ASSOCIATE EDITOR: Denton J. Tipton
EDITOR: Andy Schmidt
COVER “A” (shown): Nick Roche (art) and Josh Burcham (colorist)
COVER “B”: Trevor Hutchison
Ultra Magnus prepares to leave for Earth (as see in the ongoing title) but Verity plans to stay with the Wreckers and sneaks aboard their mission to break into the prison and rescue a specific prisoner (and any other Autobots that they can). Unfortunately, the entry pod goes does down and one group of heroes finds themselves face to face with Overlord, a Decepticon even Megatron fears.
What they got right: Again, it’s the little touches, the way the characters interact, that sells the story. Verity is being used very well here, and I didn’t realize how much I missed her. The new recruits are characters in their own right, despite being a first media appearance for some of them, and Impactor, while I’m still not sure we needed him, may have an interesting back-story as far as current events go. The look on his face when Springer mentions the Autobot they want to rescue shows there’s more story to come, as do what parts of Overlord’s back-story we’re given here.
What they got wrong: Still not a fan of the art (although the layout is still good and most poses work–it’s the thin character models and Verity still doesn’t look quite right), but I only bring it up because I have nothing else to put here.
Recommendation: Probably the best Transformers story that’s coming out thus far. Worth getting.

Attention, Grimlock. THIS is how you do "badass". And if Perceptor can do it better than you, you need to rethink your methods.
