In between flashbacks, Galloway has succeeded in all but shutting down NEST, but Lennox and Optimus are certain something strange is going on. Meanwhile, Soundwave and the Decepticons continue to track the Initiative, who use the NEST team to cover their tracks, but Soundwave is able to convince Optimus that they both know there is another party involved. While that’s going on, the Initiative are able to block Galloway’s tracking systems of Transformer “hot spots”, including the old Sector Seven base, and he decides he wants to investigate.

What they got right: I have to give Furman some credit here. He’s actually managed to stick with the “A” plot/”B” plot for two issues. Usually he’ll have a number of different plots going on, but all we have are (A) the Initiative and (B) Galloway trying to shut down NEST.

What they got wrong: We still have Furman’s third column obsession and I already did the “secret organization” rant last issue. What bugs me most is the art. It’s really kind of bland, and while Furman actually balanced the action and story scenes (more or less), there isn’t a lot of action in the action scenes. It’s not bad, but it’s not exactly good, either. It’s just…there, which it shouldn’t be for Transformers or anything based on a Michael Bay concept. (Pretty action scenes are kind of his “thing”.)

Recommendation: I still can’t recommend this comic on an individual level, but the trade isn’t looking too good either, especially with the flashbacking this issue.

Sorry, nothing in this comic really stood out for me enough to even give a Best Scene nomination to.

Tomorrow’s Trade: If I can get to it with my crazed-up schedule this work week, I’m hoping to do a review of the Middleman trade collection. No promises.
