Ringo makes a return because the multi-author project Crossoverlord has finished its story. There’s the prospect of a spin-off tale, but if you’ve been waiting on this story, stop waiting and go read it. Then click on this comic for some backstage reasons I’ll probably not be asked to be a guest artist. 🙂
And now, some other news you might be interested in.
comics
- DC Comics has thrown another gauntlet in the continuing war OVER Superman. This time they’re suing the Siegle estate’s lawyer.
- Sadly, Rush Limbaugh has little to say about the recent comic book biography on him. I, on the other hand, will have a review this week, and fairness is one of the things I’m grading on. (Seeing as how there is a high amount of liberal comic makers and politics is a very divisive issue, even in the comics industry.)
- The comic strip Little Orphan Annie, the source of the beloved musical, will soon end.
- An addendum on the current race changes cause by the Didio/Johns “backsliding timeline”: Bleeding Cool has an article keeping track on the fates of non-white super characters.
- A Twitter debate on whether colorists deserve royalties.
television/movies
- Word that the controversial twins of the Transformers Movieverse wouldn’t make it in the third movie may have been a rumor. Then again, Bay loves to mess with even fan news sources.
- After selling his Saban Entertainment to Disney, Haim Saban’s new company has re-acquired for him the rights to the Power Rangers franchise. There may also be some video games in the future. Looks like Linkara’s going to have more episodes of his “History of the Power Rangers” series to make in the future.
- Mark Hamill’s comic The Dark Pearl will soon be made into a movie.
- In online toon news, Joe Murray (creator of BW NON-favs Rocko’s Modern Life and Camp Lazlo, so I’m mostly posting this for readers) is starting an online cartoon channel.
- Also, US anime distributor Media Blasters will be streaming their properties online.
- Qubo has announced upcoming animated series for their channel, including some old Filmation shows along new productions. (I hope some of them make it to Ion.)
- As part of a series of articles celebrating martial arts in cartoons, Toon Zone has posted a list of what they consider the Top 5 martial arts fights in animation.
- Teaser poster for the next “Narnia” movie.
- On the chopping block for NBC is Heroes. I won’t miss it, as I couldn’t get past the first season. Two dark and depressing for my tastes.
- The classic film Metropolis (no connection to Superman) has been restored. I always wanted to see that movie.
- A new 3D Buck Rogers movie (thankfully not using Frank Miller)? One former portrayer says to keep it hopeful.
in others news
- A rather interesting opinion piece on cosplay. Having seen it in person at conventions, I have to admire their dedication and effort.
- This Week’s Cracked: 11 Movies Saved By Historical Inaccuracies tells us that sometimes changing a few of history’s facts may mean we’d actually want to see the movie. (Except for my history buff friend, who would probably enjoy the original.)
And this week we have not one, but two Best Scenes, since last week’s was interrupted by playing with the new theme.
Best Scene of LAST Week
Transformers #6
Best Scene of THIS Week
Lockjaw & The Pet Avengers Unleashed #2
That’s all I have time for this week. More to come next week.
