Sorry, I don’t know how this ended up in my draft list instead of publishing.

Ah, I'm still just bitter about last Saturday. See why in this week's Jake & Leon.

I have co-workers like that. Don't you?

The Muppet Show #5

BOOM Kids! (April 2010)

WRITER/COVER ART: Roger Langridge
ARTIST: Amy Mebberson
COLORIST: Eric Cobain
LETTERER: Derron Bennett
ASSISTANT EDITOR: Jason Long
EDITOR: Aaron Sparrow
DESIGNER: Erika Terriquez
(Cover “A” Shown)

Piggy’s nephews, Andy and Randy, decide to pay their aunt a visit, and just proceed to cause everyone grief with their lack of any form of common sense known to Muppet. Skeeter decides to “help”, which just leads to a practical joke played on Miss Piggy.

Sketches include a story about love at a preschool, The Swedish Chef, a visit to Koozebane, Veternarian’s Hospital, Pigs in Space, and a take on the opera Pigmalion. (Or “Pygmalion“. Wikipedia has the same play under both spellings as different entries. Firefox’s spell check prefers the latter.)

What they got right: Roger gets the verbal character, but Amy still gets the look right. Roger’s a good artist, and he does great on the sets, but for the Muppets themselves, I still go with Amy. I still insist Boom needs to keep these two a team.

What they got wrong: I would have liked to have seen her draw Statler and Waldorf in the theater instead of this god-like thing they’re doing this arc. It also seems out of place for the show.

Recommendation: I don’t break out the “must for ___ fan” unless I mean it, because that can be overused. However, this arc…actually the whole series is a must for The Muppet Show fans. But find a way to make the Langridge/Mebberson team permanent.
