Robert and Eliza, the Torchwood operatives from The Time Machination, and professor Alexander Hugh use an alien device they believe will bring them five minutes into the future. Instead they arrive on a planet that is caught in a civil war, the forces led by the Advocate and her former sidekick, now identified as “Lau’Tan”. Lau’Tan has come to oppose her plans in the two years since their last meeting with the Doctor, but Matthew is still falling for her lies, and wants to “save” Emily. The Advocate’s forces arrive to take the Doctor and Emily prisoner, but Lau’Tan assumes the Doctor’s form. Eliza even comes to side with the Doctor as Robert has gone mad, and Hugh’s assistant is killed during the kidnapping. The Advocate doesn’t fall for Lau’Tan’s trick and orders that he and Emily fight…to the death!
What they got right: Lee is tying up all the loose ends, much as Davies did when saying goodbye to Doctor 10. This includes Lee’s one-shot story, The Time Machination. Smith is one of the better artists in this series so it’s nice that he gets the final 10 story for IDW.
What they got wrong: Keeping Hugh and Annabelle on Earth would have been fine with me. Hugh doesn’t do anything beyond the plot device and Annabelle is there to die and nothing else.
Recommendation: By now you should know I’m going to tell you to pick this up.

"And then we can all go out for donuts."
