That’s right, folks. For the next four strips (or five if you count this), Jake & Leon is doing a four-part (or five if you prefer) parody storyline. Why? Because it popped into my head that way for one, and for another…well, you’ll just have to click the comic and go to the behind the scenes page, or forever wonder what the heck I was thinking. (Especially when we get to the third strip.)
In the meantime…news.
I didn’t have the opportunity to get anything comics news this week. Sorry.
television/movies
- We have the official name for the new Power Rangers series, Power Rangers Samurai. The new Rangers are also given bios. The sentai used is Samurai Sentai Shinkenger.
- The trailer is out for the upcoming direct-to-video animated adaptation of All-Star Superman. We also have a cast list.
- The humans in the Roger Rabbit sequel are going to be CG? That seems to miss the point.
- Marvel has begun releasing “micro-episodes” on their website and YouTube page for the upcoming Avengers cartoon. They appear to be taking cues from the movies, but I’m still not a total fan of the art style. At least it’s better than the first preview shots.
- Mark Ruffolo isn’t just playing Bruce Banner. He’s also playing the Hulk!
- Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure was a good movie, and I like the cartoon. The second movie didn’t interest me, so I’m not sure we need a third movie.
- Is Hulu in trouble? The networks are starting to rumble about how their inventory is sold via the website.
- Six Million Dollar Man on DVD. Yay!
- The search has begun for the director of the next Superman movie. Don’t get it wrong, folks.
video games
- Two videos from Extra Credits: a brief look at a panel discussing becoming a video game writer and a regular episode on music use in games that you really should watch.
- Comics legend Stan Lee defends video games from the same arguments once thrown at comics.
in other news
- James Rolfe, better known as the Angry Video Game Nerd, has posted a Vlog of future plans, which includes an AVGN movie! (He also posted a video this week that will be in the next Saturday Night Showcase.)
- The Clutter Report: Want to go through my drawers? Wha…no, I’m not being perverted! I’m talking about “My little metal drawer box“, to see that good storage ideas can be cheap or even free if you know where to look.
- This Week’s Cracked: I actually disagree with some of the theories in 6 Insane Fan Theories That Actually Make Great Movies Better. I don’t want Deckard in Blade Runner to be a replicant, since it lessens his decision in the end to me. Plus any right-thinking person knows James Bond is really a Time Lord working incognito for MI6. The Ferris Bueller and Star Wars theories, however? I’m willing to go with it.
