I don’t do “Getting Caught Up” articles anymore because they became the Weekly Wrap-Up feature. However, my list of e-newsletters is getting rather long. This isn’t a news blog, and I don’t plan on it ever really being. It’s just me gathering my thoughts and promoting things I like that I feel do not get enough attention. However, I do try to keep up with what’s going on via RSS feeds and e-newsletters.
The newsletters usually come from Newsarama, Bleeding Cool, Breitbart.com (mostly for Big Hollywood), video game news site Kotaku.com, and Blambot.com. I don’t think you’re all that interested in fonts, and if you are, you can check out Blambot for yourselves. I also get some CNet newsletters, but those rarely match the Spotlight’s theme. Some of them come daily, some come weekly So to clean out my email inbox, here are some interesting stuff from those newsletters, while still leaving me something for this week’s Weekly Wrap-Up. Most of this is old news and some of it you may already know about.
comics
- At least someone can joke about “Rise of Arsenal”. Because I’m sure not.
television/movies
- Added to Warner Brothers’ “made to order” DVD service are Legends of the Super Heroes, a duo of TV specials with various DC heroes (including Adam West and Burt Ward reprising Batman and Robin with Frank Gorshin as the Riddler) you may have seen on YouTube, and Josie & the Pussycats in Outer Space, which should be obvious.
- Agree or disagree, but at least have an open mind about this one. Leigh Scott questions the necessity of PBS in today’s television.
video games
- How do you get someone to update your favorite game? Make them too busy defending their website from spambot attacks to work on it. Actually, that’s a stupid idea.
- To break or not to break the fourth wall in games. That is the question.
- What happens when an MMO loses the “O”?
- What is the biggest computer game of all time? I bet most of you own it.
- Mega Man’s daddy has left Capcom!
- If you’re into “modding” games, you know who Garry Newman is. If not, learn.
in other news
I think that’s enough for one day since it’s now suppertime, but I still have some more in there. I’m going to flush out the rest in Sunday’s Weekly Wrap-Up, and then try to keep better track of what’s coming in.
