No major commentary in this week’s strip. I’ll bring that back next week.
It’s time to finish cleaning out my newsletters from Wednesday, so some of this information you may have already heard. So here’s one new piece: Channel Awesome has finally launched their second site, gaming news and review site Blistered Thumbs. If you’re a fan of That Guy With The Glasses, you may already know some of the contributing talent, like Angry Joe, the Spoony One, Jew Wario, and Doug Walker’s “Video Game Confessions” among others. There are also some new talent both in video and written reviews, plus they’re still looking for more. BW Media Spotlight has enjoyed their work previously and while I’m mostly a casual gamer, I will be watching the site and wish them all the success in the world.
Also, if they plan on making an “Inked Reality” spin-off site like this, I’m available to write. 🙂
Now to those old reports I’m just catching up on.
Comics
- I have to give Bleeding Cool credit. They actually found a worse comic than ones we bloggers usually complain about. Namely, one where the savior of the world is a man who rapes his own daughters! That’s a new level of suck!
- I’m mostly linking to the first article of Newsarama’s “Writer’s Workshop” series so I can find it easier.
- Anyone have an update on Devil’s Due splitting with Diamond?
- A filler story for Batman & Robin.
- Hey manga fans! New Dragon Ball!
Television/Movies
- What the fifth installment of the Superman movies could have been. It’s better than Superman Returns, I promise you.
- Rather outdated by now, but an interesting editorial about Jeph Loeb in charge of Marvel’s TV division.
- I never had the chance to watch Firefly, but after seeing this fake opening, I would totally watch this show. It’s also the first fake intro I added to the “My Favorite Intros” playlist on my YouTube page.
- Could there be a Time Lord among the Hobbits?
- Gary Graham, one of my favorite actors, talks about why he quit the Screen Actors Guild and feels better off for it.
- If you thought hiring Nicolas Cage to play Superman was going to be a bad idea, check out what he would have been wearing. That’s a fashion don’t without being Superman.
Other Video Game news
- Want to see some of the original Pac-Man artwork from the design phase of the game?
- Policing the virtual worlds against assault and real-world predators.
- Somebody found a way to take the mentality that caused me to create The Clutter Reports to get me to clean up around here and applied it to gamers and other chores and activities. Nice!
- An article about the problems of translating video games from Japanese to English.
In Other News
- I didn’t have time to listen to it if I wanted this article done on time, but Stan Lee reading the Raven already sounds awesome. Dude’s got one heck of a voice. May not match James Earl Jones reading it for The Simpsons, but what would?
- Funny that I have a Jake & Leon comic about plays and then we hear about the dangers of working on the Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark musical.
- The Clutter Reports: I finally got to the DC Comics action figure reviews, with five figures across three different toy lines. Steel, Captain Marvel, Superman, and Batman (two of them) are in my sights and there will be a shortening of my collection on this one.
- This Week’s Cracked: Looks like another Cracked writer decided to be a killjoy. 6 Horrifying Implications of Awesome Fantasy Movie Universes shows us the downside of the Disney and Marvel Universes, Middle Earth, Star Trek‘s future, James Cameron’s Pandora, and the Star Wars Galaxy sound great…until you have to live there. I think that’s what makes Moon Freight 3 such a fun comic.
Best Scene of This Week’s Reviews
Sonic Universe #21

Yes, in a week that had a giant robot being punched by a giant talking gorilla I went with the comedy. Proof that just when you think you know me, you’re wrong! 😀
