I’m kind of neutral when it comes to so-called “motion comics“. It’s really a flash animation (by today’s interpretation) but when a fan version does better than some officially-produced series, something’s wrong.
I’ve said before that the first Transformers: The War Within was pretty good, which is something I rarely say about a story written by Simon Furman. (On the other hand, the sequel was terrible and typical Furman.) What follows is a fan-produced motion comic. It adapts the first issue of the comic, using artwork from the comic and some rather good animation for the style.
At least a doubtful, naive Optimus Prime makes sense early in his career, but that’s for another article. Episode 2 is also available at their YouTube page, as is some behind-the-scenes video. The voice actors that appear here are also Transformers fans and work on translations of Transformers anime that will probably never get a proper English release.
