No strip this week. With 12 comics yesterday do you need one?
So this is the last Weekly Wrap-Up of 2010. I have TWO Best Scenes of the Week since I didn’t post last weeks, but first a bit of the catching up part of our Sunday posting.
comics
- If you read my Pull List in the sidebar or the reviews you know I refer to the Marvel Adventures titles as “volume 2” even though they don’t. According to this ComiXology solicit they’re finally following my lead.
- A comic in which the Lone Ranger and Zorro team up? Sounds cool until you learn that Lone Ranger is actually avenging Zorro’s murder.
- Do you fear the latest Marvel event as much as I do?
- Want to edit for DC Comics?
television/movies
- Mad Max knockoffs. The post-apocalyptic genre isn’t my thing, but you might get a kick out of it.
- Costume and monster designer Neville Page discusses his work on Tron: Legacy, the upcoming Green Lantern, and Cloverfield. I wouldn’t brag about that design if I were him.
- In the same vein, a few behind-the-scenes tidbits about both Tron films.
- Nostalgia versus “nerdstalgia” in this review of the original Tron movie. I’m hoping to catch the sequel in a couple of weeks, so keep an out for another “Movies With The Gang” review.
- Walden Media President Michael Flaherty runs some damage control involving the themes of the latest “Narnia” film, Voyage of the Dawn Treader and the future of the movie franchise now that 20th Century Fox picked up Disney’s dropped ball.
- Do Hollywood and Broadway know what to do with Spider-Man? One reviewer doesn’t think so.
- Captain James T. Kirk: destroyer of computers just by talking to them! (Don’t let him near your plants, either.)
video games
- What level of immersion in a video game would make you happy?
- Blistered Thumbs reviewer “Hope Within Chaos” reviews the beta for DC Universe Online.
- A brief look at Christmas-themed video games and easter eggs. Also an article about Christmas games. Why DON’T they make them anymore?
in other news
- IO-9 is doing a primer on classic pulp science fiction novels.
- William Shakespeare’s influence on science fiction.
- A Superman-inspired wedding.
- The Clutter Reports: Two reports since my last Wrap-Up. First my Nativity set and some based off the Rankin/Bass Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer special.
- This Week’s Cracked: Origin stories. Overloaded villains for the sequel. Ditching secret identities. (Just like comic books are doing.) These and more are all part of the 8 (Pointless) Laws All Comic Book Movies Follow.
Best Scene of Last Week’s Reviews
Sonic Universe #23

That’s just so darn cute.
Best Scene of This Week’s Reviews
Iron Man: Legacy #9

To be honest, it almost tied with Darkwing Duck, but then I played the lines in my head and the delivery sold it.
So I hope you all had a Merry Christmas (or whatever you did the past two days). Next week we get back to normal as we prepare for a new year of Hollywood and DC/Marvel ruining all our fun. Join us, won’t you?
