Marvel Comics (April 2010) (which should tell you how long it’s been sitting in my folder)
SCRIPT: Peter David PENCILER: Sean Chen INKERS: Victor Olazaba & Scott Hanna COLORIST: Chris Sotomayor LETTERER: Joe Caramagna COVER ART: Adi Granov ASSISTANT EDITOR: Alejandro Arbona EDITOR: Ralph Macchio
It’s the second half of the first Iron Man movie. (See my review of part one back when it actually came out.)
What they got right: Chen’s art is some of my favorite for an Iron Man comic and he’s true to form here. David does a good job translating the movie in the alloted space, and including new elements to tie it in to the sequel and what we know of Fury’s involvement behind the scenes.
What they got wrong: The scene where Iron Man shows up to take out the Ten Rings guys, he just shows up blasting things. It’s not as cool as in the movie. This includes that scene where Iron Man shoot the tank with a missile in his gauntlet. The scene where he fires it looks a bit too dramatic. It’s only slight, but I still noticed it because it was so prominent in the trailers and one of my favorite scenes from the movie.
Recommendation: I’ll just repost what I wrote in part one: “If you’re like me and like to have adaptations of movies, especially ones with spin-off comics, then go ahead and get this. However, this won’t replace seeing the movie, which is just a great movie.”
Tomorrow’s Comic> Thor & The Warriors Four #3. My comic store of choice was shorted issue #2 so I never got it. I got tired of waiting for it, or a trade.
