Transformers: Sector 7 #5
FINAL ISSUE
WRITER: John Barber ARTIST: Jon Davis-Hunt COVER ART: Brian Rood ALTERNATE COVER: Joe Suitor LETTERER: Chris Mowry ASSISTANT EDITOR: Carlos Guzman EDITOR: Andy Schmidt
February 9, 1954: Sabotage at the Arctic base may lead to Megatron being defrosted, but is the culprit from Cybertron or somewhat more local?
What they got right: I give Barber credit for trying to merge the novels and comics together with the movie without getting into a retcon slump (and this time without trying to tie in to real historical events, which has been my biggest issue with this miniseries). This has some of the best artwork in the series, although still not perfect.
What they got wrong: You know those underground tunnels with the strange animals? The ones that have been a running sub-subplot since issue #1? Not resolved. Why even mention it? Why even HAVE it? Unless the writer knows something we don’t about the third movie, it’s pointless to the comic and the Movieverse as a whole.
Recommendation: Unless your die-hard about historical science fiction or the Transformers Movieverse, there’s really no reason to get this.
