Yes, I looked to find the proper Sega characters. I like Kage-Maru in Vitrua Fighter. Sadly, I’ve only played the first game since nobody releases fighting games on the PC, even with it now using the X-Box controller.
So how big is the BW Twitter after one week?
Apparently Twitter can’t count. Somebody was a follower for all of a day but they left and somebody forgot to tell the software. But thanks to Spacebooger and BW Fave/virtual mentor Jerzy Drozd. And apparently a bible reading Twitter. Go figure. Well, let’s get to this week’s minor news, unless you count two major deaths, and these nobody will be resurrected from.
comics
- Comic and animation writer Dwayne McDuffie passed away this week.
- 10 clichés of the mega-event, or if you ask me the 10 symptoms of Eventitis.
television/movies
- The Doctor has lost the Brigadier. Nicholas Courtney has passed away.
- A look at live-action adaptations of classic cartoons.
- Remember the movie They Live, where Rowdy Roddy Piper fights aliens by wearing sunglasses? Ever wonder about the aliens?
video games
- When in China, prepare to visit Blizzard’s theme park.
- How many different ways can you hurt a Mario?
- The trailer for the movie-based Green Lantern game.
- Double Fine, the guys behind Psychonauts, have announced their next project…with Sesame Street?
- A Doctor Who MMO? Or is it?
- Will Wright has questioned video games as a storytelling tool. I would disagree with him and I’m not alone.
- A call for civility within the gaming community.
in other news
- The Clutter Reports: I’ve been doing the Clutter Reports project for half a year now (give or take a week or so), and it’s time to step back and see how the project is working. There’s also a teaser for a BW project in one photo. See if you can find it.
- This Week’s Cracked: Comics love to kill people off and bring them back, but some methods of bringing them back are a bit odd. Just check out 5 Absurd Ways Comic Books Have Resurrected Dead Superheroes. One slight correction for #1, though: the planet is called Nebulos, not Nebulog.
Best Scene of This Week’s Reviews
Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes #4
Slight announcement here: due to a long story you don’t care about I wasn’t able to get my comics this week. However, you will still get a daily comic review as I go through some of my old comics. I was planning to do that to take up space during the week but never ended up doing it. So this week will have not “Today’s Comic” but “Yesterday’s Comic”, complete with it’s own category. The format won’t change outside of no Best Scene of the Week award. See you tomorrow.
