So Spacebooger called for a special St. Patrick’s Day version of the Friday Night Fights. The Grand Championship is next week, and the second half of the Best of FNF: One Panel Of Pain the week after that. So the rule is that at least one of our fighters have to be green. I’m not sure if simply wearing a green costume counts, but I’m expecting a lot of Hulk fights and possible a Ninja Turtle or two.

I, of course, am going with Transformers. You probably aren’t surprised.

Green Gauntlet for St. Patrick’s Day

The Battlefield: The Transformers #10 (Marvel Comics, November 1985) “The Next Best Thing To Being There

The Promoters: Bob Budiansky (writer), Richardo Villamonte (penciler), Brad Joyce (inker), Janice Chiang (letterer), Nel Yomtov (colorist) and Mike Carlin (editor)

This is the first comic book appearance of Devastator.

Interestingly, the toy version is closer to Optimus's size.

Combiners were new to America, since we had yet to see Voltron. Here, Devy is protecting a device that can contact Cybertron, and since the Decepticons are behind it you can guess it’s bad news.

Would you have thought Ironhide a conservative?

He’s big. He’s powerful. He’s…dumber than a brick.

"Maybe if the colorist paints me in Devastator green I can fool him."

But eventually he does figure out which target to hit.

No, Ironhide didn't expose him. He went two or three more panels before Devastator figured it out.

Of course by then a human with a rig has already destroyed the Scrambler.

Soundwave hates beta testing.

The signal would go on to reach Cybertron anyway, but not until this story arc ended.

Yes, apparently this is a voting tournament. I’m guessing the winner gets a four-leaf clover. Maybe you could get lucky if you’d join us in the Friday Night Fights. All you need is blog space and an oversized comic collection.
