When the slag did I become Wonder Woman’s fashion critic? I’m a straight male after all.

Entertainment Weekly brought out a picture of Diana’s look from David E. Kelley‘s version of Wonder Woman. So will this look increase or decrease fears that this will be to Ally McBeal what Smallville was to Dawson’s Creek?

There go our theories about the JMS outfit being Hollywood-motivated.

Honestly, the only complaint I have is the blue boots instead of the traditional red. I don’t think it clashes. Otherwise, it’s not a bad Wonder Woman costume. The colors are muted to be believable in today’s TV but still bright enough to be acceptable. It’s a good balance. The tiara and bracelets are present, pants in some ways make more sense than shorts (and they show off her legs well enough), and the magic lasso probably could be improved but how well I believe it will depend on how well Adrianne Palici and her target sell it to us, and I rather like the belt.

As for Ms. Palici, she does look like Diana (and she has had plenty of looks over the years), partly a credit to her hair stylist. How well she acts the part (which will also be partly blamed on how she’s written) we have yet to see.

One more point about the costume will be seeing how Diana (or Palici) can fight in that costume without her Amazons popping out of that thing. And if you think I’m being crass, I’m fully expecting that to be a running gag on this show, which shows you that I’m still cynical about this series. This could be the only thing they get right.
