Click on yonder comic to learn about how paper affects your artwork, if you’re so inclined. If not, I have some lovely news for you to read.
So yesterday I posted my first ever video review. As of this writing I haven’t gotten a lot of feedback, but I’m certainly not declaring myself a master of anything. I have a few ideas about what else I can review in this format, but, like my Twitter retweets, it will only be an extension of the usual BW Media Spotlight fare, and my focus is still on articles. It was fun to do, though. Anybody see it? Here are some other things you might have missed.
comics
- In preparation for the new TV series, IO9 contributor Charlie Jane Anders looks at some of the strangest Wonder Woman storylines, including one reviewed by BW Fave Linkara.
- Even in death, Joanne Siegel continues her pleas to Warner Brothers.
television/movies
- During the Japanese disaster, a lot of searching was done for “Godzilla”. It may seem macabre to you, but one writer defends it.
- Hey, Seattle, you get to check out some actual Star Wars props. I’m jealous of all of you.
- Speaking of which, is your kid ready for Star Wars? There is an awful lot of forced amputation in this franchise.
- Did you know Jim Henson attempted an adaptation of the Wizard of Id comic strip once?
- A comparison between the MiddleMan and the Doctor? I would totally be in favor of that team-up.
- Shout Factory is releasing MASK on DVD, and Warner Brothers is adding Chuck Norris Karate Kommandos to their manufacture on demand service. Never has replacing the “C” with a “K” done such good for storytelling and such bad for proper spelling.
video games
- Kotaku.com rounds up all the best and worst video games April Fools “announcements” this year.
- These games are so retro that they were actually released on VHS tapes!
in other news
- Among the celebrity deaths I’ve missed reporting: Michael Gough (Alfred from Tim Burton’s Batman), Elizabeth Taylor, and Jane Russell.
- The Clutter Reports: Before the video game became portable, there were Tomy Pocket Games, and I had five of them. Now I have four.
- This Week’s Cracked: Gene-altering spiders. Ending the need for starships. That wishing machine from last week’s TWC. Michael Bay’s answer to the Pretenders. (The Transformers, not the music group.) And other technologies that make up 7 Movies That Ignored World Changing Discoveries. Comics do it all the time, actually.
Best Scene of This Week’s Reviews
Buck Rogers Annual #1
Not that it was a fair fight. It had two nominations.

And tomorrow I’ll tell you what I thought of the new Godzilla comic. I’ll give you one hint: it’s Godzilla.
