All new Friday Night Fights are back. A new challenge has been laid for those of us who participate in the game. The tournament: Repeat, Rehash, Revenge! The rules? Someone featured in this fight must appear in the next fight. One of them appears in the third fight and so on and so on. I’m sure its cheating to use the same guy all 12 tournaments.

For this tournament, Megatron is involved in my obligatory Transformers post. However, this really isn’t his fight. An article feature I’ve had in mind for a while is Great Moments in Storytelling, which I’m considering doing in my newly attempted video format. Tonight it’s the usual text and pictures though. It’s a story that proves that even in his gun mode Megatron is a dangerous weapon. It’s a story that shows even small influences are created by giant alien shape-shifting robots. It’s a story of one man’s redemption. It’s the story of a man named…Joey Slick.

Repeat, Rehash, REVENGE! round 1

The Battlefield: The Transformers #13 (February 1986) “Shooting Star”

The Promoters: Bob Budiansky (writer), Don Perlin (penciler), Al Gordon (inker), Janice Chiang (letterer), Nel Yomtov (colorist) and Michael Carlin (editor)

Joey Slick was a loser. A big loser. Working for the mob his life changed once he found Megatron, damaged and willing to take his orders. With his new “super gun”, Joey became a criminal that nobody could beat. However, he soon realized that he hated his life. He blamed his old boss, Jake Lomax, and decided it was time for…revenge!

But taking out his goons (not killing, something that held true throughout his reign of terror) isn’t what Joey came for. He came to confront Lomax himself!

Then he just gives Lomax the money he owes him (plus interest) and turns…to see a VERY angry Megatron standing before him.

Megatron is considered the most merciless being on Cybertron. This may be Joey Slick’s last day on Earth, but he has settled his debts. He’s ready to take his punishment for the life he’s lived. He may die, but in this moment, Joey Slick is no longer a loser.

And thus Joey has won the most important thing. Not his life, not even Megatron’s rare respect.

This day, Joey Slick won his soul and humanity. There is no greater victory.
