Feeling sorry for Kellaway, Stanley, as the Mask, turns himself in. What follows is the craziest legal case this side of OJ Simpson. (Note the cover date.) This includes Judge Dreadlox (complete with Dread helmet and dreadlocks), a review of recurring enemies from the show and comic (including the first coming appearance of Putty Thing and Fish Guy), and…nobody wants to see Kellaway dressed as Ethel Merman, but it happens.
What they got right: Did you read my synopsis at all?
What they got wrong: This comic isn’t known for breaking the fourth wall (I don’t remember if the cartoon already did), so it feels out of place seeing it here.
Recommendation: If Dark Horse hasn’t collected all 12 issues, they should correct that oversight. At any rate, if you come across these issues, remember that they’re more kid-friendly than the regular The Mask comics but not “kiddie comics”. I fully recommend getting this comic.
Up Next: “Best Scene of the Week” is a bit useless this week, but still check out Sunday’s Weekly Wrap-Up with Jake & Leon.
