With all this talk about rebooting the DCU the Ivelostcounteenth time, I felt like going back to the beginning. Back when the reason there was no Kent marriage was because the character had just been created, not because the backsliding timeline and the Bad Fanfic Brigade came into play. So luckily Superman was in last week’s fight. This isn’t the first Superman fight we ever see, but it was the earliest interesting fight in my collection. (Dude took a lynch mob out in one panel. Pretty sure that’s the first fight.)

Repeat Rehash Revenge round 8

The Battlefield: Superman #1 (Summer 1939, reprinted edition December 2000) no story title

The Promoters: Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster

At his job at the Daily Star, reporter Clark Kent gets a tip of a wife-beating, because people always called newspapers before or just after calling the cops (and in some cases instead of). And being Superman he gets there ahead of the cops.

You know, if some guy was holding me in mid-air by my bread basket, "don't get tough" isn't what I'd be saying. More like..oh, who'd be talking, I'd be soiling my underwear.

I get the feeling this won’t be the Superman that DC gives us.

Even though I’ll be spending next week covering this week’s E3 news I’ll still be taking part in the Friday Night Fights, and so should you. Click the sign to go to this week’s tournament page before Sunday night and vote for your favorite. If you have a decent sized collection, consider joining us. Just make a site for it if you have to.
