Still new to magic, Wally didn't realise you're supposed to summon the dead, not the living.

This posted a day early. Sorry.

Young Justice #5

DC Comics (August, 2011)

WRITER: Art Baltazar & Franco
ARTIST: Christopher Jones
COLORIST: Zac Atkinson
LETTERER: Carlos M. Mangual
COVER ART: Mike Norton & Alex Sinclair
ASSISTANT EDITOR: Michael McCalister
EDITOR: Jim Chadwick

Wally tries to make a date with Megan, but of course it backfires when she invites the rest of the team along and it turns into a group camping trip. There we learn the origin of Aquaman and Kid Flash, just before Superboy makes a surprise pronouncement.

What they got right: It was nice to see the team get some down time after the previous arc and the events of the show. While I love Norton’s art, guest-artist Christopher Jones does a slightly better job of imitating the look of the show.

What they got wrong: Even a brief reference to the last arc (they recovered rather quick) or the show. Also, I’m waiting for them to reach the time when Artemis joined the team. It feels like they’re a character short.

Recommendation: Still one of the better superhero comics out there. I wish the main DC titles were done more like this series.

So there weren’t a lot of comics this week. I took the opportunity to grab volume 1 of Mega Man Gigamix (just before they up the sales tax in Connecticut–like I’m not broke enough as far as the governor is concerned), but I won’t be able to finish it by Wednesday. It’s a big GN. I’ll review it on Saturday and use the next three days to complete my reviews of the ALF comics I have. So…

Tomorrow’s (old) Comic> ALF Annual #1, which I would have reviewed for Saturday had I not screwed up Friday’s review.
