If you've seen Raphael in any continuity, you know Casey's right.

This is one of two comics I drew for a buffer, and hopefully I can make more in case I can’t think of, or have time to draw, a more current event-related strip.

I posted this way late tonight, but today I attended the Brass City Comic Convention in Waterbury, CT. I didn’t see Trevor Von Edenn (at least I don’t think I did), but there were a number of artists and writers in attendance. I’ll give you a brief overview of my day (I didn’t have a chance to collect news) before we crown this week’s Best Scene, but are videos to come as soon as I have a chance to edit.

The convention began at 10 but I didn’t get to the Fine Arts center at Naugatuck Valley Community College until about 11:30. I walked around a bit before getting to the interviewing, talking to some of the independent comic creators in attendance. There were also two “big time” creators, inker Dave Meikis and artist Cesar Feliciano. Felicano was busy but took time to talk to the rank amateur with his crappy camera. There were also some actual reporters at the con doing interviews.

Everyone was rather nice. I didn’t get a lot of stuff because it was a short con. The only disappointment was the lack of cosplayers, which I see at conventions on TV and, of course, ConnectiCon and U-Con at UConn, another college convention. Maybe if it gets more attention; the event is only in its second year, and one of the organizers said they did better this year and may try to get more dealers (and hopefully more creators) next year. I’m hoping they get enough guests to start having a panel or two, but that may be well along the line.

It was a good experience, although I spent so much time doing interviews that I didn’t get to do much else. No caricatures of myself, no signed artwork, and only got to look through one set of old comics. Then again, if you’ve read my Clutter Reports you know I have so many comics I’m trying to find time to go through them and cut down the collection. If you have the chance to go next year and your in the Waterbury area, I say check it out. Their next convention is Classiccon, a three-day event at Coco Keys Water Resort. The next con for me is ComiConn in August, and I’m hoping to have a better camera and microphone by then. You’ll see in the video that the sound isn’t so good. Hopefully I’ll introduce someone to an indy comic they wouldn’t otherwise have seen, but I’m waiting for some stuff back from a couple people.

Best Scene of This Week’s Reviews

Darkwing Duck #14

The first video won’t be ready tomorrow, I’m shooting for Tuesday or Wednesday. Instead, I’ll review episode one of the new Thundercats series. Did I like it? Unless you’ve read my Twitter, you’ll find out tomorrow night.
