I Love 'King of the Rocket Men'!

Here we are folks, the final episode. Dr. Vulcan has been revealed and is ready to enact his master plan. Will he be victorious, and how will Rocket Man stop him? Find out in our last chapter of…King of the Rocket Men!

There you go, the serial that lead to the creation of The Rocketeer, or to be more precise, the serial that started the franchise that inspired Dave Stevens. While Jeff King never wore the suit again, his heir apparent, Commando Cody, would take to the skies with the same costume in three separate serials, Radar Men From The Moon, Zombies of the Stratosphere (mostly known for featuring a young Leonard Nimoy, with the lead character’s name oddly changed to “Larry Martin”), and a prequel originally intended for television (but had to be shown in theaters first due to contract restrictions) called Commando Cody: Sky Marshal of the Universe. It was this trio of serials that led to the creation of Cliff Secord and his rocket-pack adventures.

Next week I’ll be away at ComiCONN, so I’ll give you my thoughts on this serial. I would love to hear yours in the comments, if only to see if anyone watched this and if I should ever do it again in the future with a different serial.
