Darkwing Duck #17

Boom Entertainment/Kaboom!

COVER “A”: James Silvani
COVER “B” (shown): Sabrina Alberghetti

Continued from Ducktales #5: Darkwing, Scrooge, and Gyro make their way into Quackwerks to rescue Gizmoduck (with a little help from “Agent 44” and Fenton’s mom) while Launchpad and the kids try to find the source of the slime. Unfortunately, Huey, Dewey, and Louie end up making contact with it.

What they got right: A flashback to Drake’s time away from the cape and mask, all of DW’s top foes make a cameo, and the return of the REAL Gizmoduck. While Scrooge and DW not getting along should bug me (I prefer my heroes get along), it’s in keeping with Scrooge’s character.

What they got wrong: I’m pretty sure Fenton’s mom knows Fenton is Gizmoduck.

Recommendation: I’ll pick up the last two chapters of “Dangerous Currency” next week in both Ducktales and Darkwing Duck‘s final issues, but I still wish Kaboom was keeping this series. What’s the deal, Disney?
