Apparently we can’t relate to this Peter Parker. It makes him less of an “everyman” than what he’s been doing lately.
- lusting after his cousins
- dating a girl who happens to be based off of Quesada’s niece
- working in a high-tech laboratory where he can create more high-tech superhero costumes than the toy shelves
- being part of both the Avengers AND the Fantastic Four (may change when Johnny Storm gets tired of being dead)
Yep, can’t relate to this Peter Parker. He’s not normal enough.
No, I’m not letting it go. The argument for ending the Spider-Marriage (and wiping out of continuity with not-Satan) loses more steam all the time. And nobody has explained why Peter had to stop being a schoolteacher when reality reset. How is his current job (after being fired from the Bugle) “more relatable” and filled with Peter’s money problems that supposedly is a core of the character? I would think a major science lab (where Peter can make every kind of outfit and web fluid mix he will ever need) would make him less of an everyman. (And wasn’t this why previous writers didn’t just have Harry learn Peter was Spidey while they were still friends? Imagine what Spider-Man could have done with Oscorp tech. No, we’d rather bring back his dead daddy and put him in charge of national defense.)
I don’t understand the Spider-Writers/Editors. I really don’t.
