A young boy is taken to an institute that will help him develop his psychic powers to ward off the monsters. Miki Saegusa is working with him, but the director may be pushing him too far when he learns Tristian may have a psychic link to one of the monsters, Titanosaurus. However, and unknown to both Miki and Tristan, there is more to the institute than either of them know.

What they got right: It’s Miki Saegusa, the only recurring human character (unless you count Steve Martin or references to Dr. Serizawa) in the franchise, or at least the Heisei era (the second set of Godzilla movies). It’s nice to see her there, plus one of the alien races from the Showa (first set) era as well as one of the monsters they’re famous for using. The art is also It’s a good starter story…

What they got wrong:…that ends on a cliffhanger! No, don’t end the story here! I want to see how this ends! Someone give him a miniseries or original graphic novel so he can finish the story.

Recommendation: I’m really enjoying these stories of the other monsters in the franchise. I really want this to be an ongoing series. And to finish THIS story.

NOTATION: If you’re buying these comics (and you should), go for the Arthur Adams covers with Peter Doherty on colors. I think when you have all five it makes a full picture. Props to IDW for doing it this way instead of releasing five variant covers of the same issue that go together. If that sounds silly to you, know that it has been done, even in kid/all-ages comics like The Incredibles, which I gave Boom a lot of deserved flack for. Besides, Arthur Adams draws awesome kaiju.

Tony Parker and Ian Herring are no art team to be sneezed at, though. I want this as a poster!
