Thanks to Voiceroy of Voice Actors In the News (link in the RSS feed), here’s a video of Dan Gilvezan reading from his book, Bumblebee & Me: Live As A Transformer. This was recorded during a signing Saturday at Big Kid Collectable Toy Mall & Retro Store in Sherman Oaks, California. In the read section, Gilvezan, who voiced Bumblebee in the original series, discusses his disappointment at his role in the animated movie as well as the loss of some of the characters in the early scenes.
Bumblebee would make only one or two appearances in the series before being “reformatted” into Goldbug in the finale of season 3, “The Return of Optimus Prime”. While he appeared in the would-be season 4 multi-parter “The Rebirth” (the series was actually cancelled after these three episodes, which were ignored by Japan’s The Headmasters series), it would be the last time Dan would voice the character until the promotional trailer for this book. Too bad, as to me he IS Bumblebee.
