Forced by her roommate to put down the video game and go do superhero stuff (reminds me of that webcomic I reviewed recently), It Girl runs into the former Skunk, the guy who murdered her sister, released when she got better. Now he wants to turn his life around, but try telling that to his old supercriminal gang. Bored, It Girl agrees to an experiment. Meanwhile a strange shadow seems to follow both It Girl and Skunk.
What they got right: I haven’t read the Madman comics this spins off from, and I don’t need to in order to follow these characters. A one-page bio at the end for each character would be nice, but one page and some narration is all that’s needed to tell us who It Girl is and how she got her powers. It also takes time to tell us her problem with the former Skunk. Beyond that, the comic appears to have some fun, interesting characters. I’m looking forward to seeing them again.
What they got wrong: I’ve got nothing here. That doesn’t happen often enough.
Recommendation: It’s too early to tell how the comic will go, but the first issue was a good read and is worth keeping your eye on.
I couldn’t select one moment about the others for Best Scene. There were too many good moments.
