It Girl & The Atomics #1
Image Comics (September, 2012)
“Dark Streets, Snap City” part 2 WRITER: Jamie S. Rich ARTIST: Mike Norton COLORIST: Allen Passalaqua LETTERS: Crank! “ATOMICS” CREATOR: Michael Allred EDITORS: Jamie S. Rich & Eric StephensonThe teleporter messes with It Girl’s powers after something drags her into a virtual world while another being escapes through her body. Meanwhile, she tangles with Ferret’s crew but thanks to the lighting mistakes Ferret for Skunk (which I’m betting he intended) before being zapped back into her own body. The real Skunk is still trying to find work but comes across something else. Back home, It Girl receives a challenge in her video game.
What they got right: I do enjoy the characters, and while this may have been an introductory storyline it does have me interested in checking out more issues. The art is up to Norton’s usual high quality and yes, I noticed you sneaking in a reference to Battlepug in there. I called Norton on it on Twitter but he shifted the blame/credit to the colorist.
What they got wrong: I love comics where I can’t put anything here.
Recommendation: Remember when superhero comics were fun? They used to be. Maybe this comic will jog your memory.
I couldn’t pick one moment for Best Scene. It was too good.
