I’d make a BBQ joke, but that’s what they were having last issue.

With their parents gone, the kids are taken in by the former Shield…which they disagree with until Shield shows them what a team they make. He will train them to become a new version of the Crusaders. Also, we learn a bit about the MLF and a back-up story begins showcasing the last days of the Mighty Crusaders before they retired.

What they got right: As in the previous issue, it’s a rather dark story, isn’t it? And yet it works as a kid-friendly All-Ages title because it balances the darkness with light moments. It’s like updating the Silver Age. I also have an interest in these characters and I want to know more about who they are and where they’re going. Plus, their base is maintained by a space chimpanzee. That should tell you everything right there.

What they got wrong: I don’t really know who the two guys in the “Legacy” prelude are, but the fact they’re there should fill in some gaps. See, even the negatives have positives.

Recommendation: Now this is what a superhero comic should be. Besides, it’s nice to see a kid-friendly superhero comic that isn’t some cartoon spin-off. You really should be picking up this comic.

Are you training to be a superHERO or a superVILLAIN?
