“Legacy of the Crusaders”: Fly-Girl in “Director’s Cut”
Buckler/Timmons/Gonzales/Villagran/Kirchimer/Grossman/Mason
(I couldn’t tell you for sure who does what or what their first names are)

Today the kids get their powers and gear…and that’s when things go cross-eyed. Ivette gets introduced to the spirit of her armor piece and…let’s just say he’s unfriendly. Wyatt and Kelly do OK getting their new gear and Wyatt admits to the Shield that he as a superpower. But things don’t go well for the other boys as two of them take their powers wrong, scarring off the third member. Meanwhile, Brain Emperor sets his next target–Impact City.

In the Fly-Girl story, our heroine’s dinner date is cut short when loan sharks come for her new boyfriend’s payment.

What they got right: I like that they’re including tales of the Mighty Crusaders in their more active days, although I still want reprints. (I don’t have a smartphone so I can’t use the App if I could even budget it.) I do like how the kids have to earn their powers and their reactions are very believable. I think Wyatt and Kelly are going to be my favorites but we’ll see what happens.

What they got wrong: I know what they were going for, but skeletons on pikes and one dude bleeding to death from his eyes? That seems a bit much for an all-ages comic. Granted that could be a personal POV.

Recommendation: There was a posting on Bleeding Cool yesterday that they’re cancelling the Young Justice comic, so this could be a good source to introduce kids to teen superheroes, plus adults might enjoy it, too. Give it a good look.

“Umm, h-how about this coupon for W-Wendy’s?” “Ooh, I love their bacon cheeseburgers.”
