Fury of Firestorm #17

Can a “composite being” ever truly be alone? Discuss.

Fury of Firestorm #17

DC Comics (April, 2013)

“Titan”
WRITER/PENCILER: Dan Jurgens
INKERS: Ray McCarthy & Karl Kesel
LETTERER: Travis Lanham
COLORS: Hi-Fi
ASSISTANT EDITOR: Anthony Marques
EDITOR: Mike Cotton
“FIRESTORM” CREATORS: Gerry Conway & Al Milgrom

Ronnie tries to use the Firestorm powers to repair all of the damage Megala caused while in control of Firestorm, but try convincing the military of that? It doesn’t help when Firestorm has a run-in with the Teen Titans, and Ronnie also has to make right with Tonya for her covering for him. None of this is the worst news Ronnie Raymond will receive tonight.

What they got right: How rare is it that you ever see the repair work after one of these incidents, much less seeing a superhero doing it? The appearance of the Teen Titans could leave an opening to the character continuing in that tile after the foolish decision to cancel this one. Also, this was really Ronnie’s moment to shine and you really feel for the poor guy as he tries to do the right thing.

What they got wrong: Superheroes fighting other superheroes or the military because of miscommunication is a Marvel thing, but the New 52 is trying to become Marvel lately isn’t it?

Recommendation: DC needs to stop taking Jurgens off of comics or cancelling series he’s on because he understands how the DC Universe should work better than most of the DC staff. Get it while you still can.

Right, tick off the guy with nuclear powers. Lucky for you he’s one of the good guys.
