As the story’s title says, Helena and Karen begin putting all the pieces together. It all points to Apokolips and Holt Industries, but what’s the connection? Karen finds out at one of Holt’s parties. Hint: its not really Michael. Oh, heck, the gatefold cover spoils it anyway…it’s Desaad. (Don’t worry, they don’t kiss in the story.)

What they got right: Finally something happening on the Apokolips end and maybe a few answers to come. I do like seeing Huntress and Power Girl work together…

What they got wrong: Although of course Levitz throws Helena a personal crimefighting moment and Karen a “choose an outfit and party” moment. Sure they’re looking for answers at “Holt’s” party but it does further hint that Levitz is showing favoritism to his co-creation over the other character. Also, the reveal of Desaad? Spoiled on the cover! If you didn’t guess it was Desaad, the next issue blurb spells it out. And why does Dessad look like The Master when he was messed up for a while? Is this how Desaad 52 has always looked?

Recommendation: Lackluster story overall, but if you’re following the series important revelations are prepared here, but nothing you haven’t already figured out or won’t be brought up next issue I’m sure. Take a peek and judge for yourself.

No Best Scene nomination from this one.
