Fred’s sabbatical is over and the Friday Night Fights are back!
What are writers to do for enemies now that the Cold War is over? Wait for Putin to restart it? Or just make a group of people who want to bring back the Soviet Union? (So still Putin.) That was the idea of the Phantom miniseries KGB Noir, a black and white series featuring other Moonstone-licensed pulp heroes also getting involved with former KGB shenanigans in back-up tales. Tonight we bring you a black and white Phantom fight from this miniseries as the Ghost Who Walks does his part to keep the USSR broken.

“Mosquito” round 6
The Battlefield: The Phantom Double Shot: KGB Noir #5 (Moonstone Publishing; 2010) “The Hammer” part 5 of 6
The Promoters: Mike Bullock (writer), Fernando Peniche (artist), and Josh Aitken (letterer) Thanks to this being a black-and-white comic there’s no colorist.
Former KGB agents are trying to set off a bomb they hope will start a new war. In their way is the Man Who Cannot Die. In HIS way is Bruno. Bruno is a big guy.
This fight may well be the one to best match the title of this tournament. If this bear of a man wasn’t going up against a man, or so the legend goes, has the strength of 10 tigers. When Bruno’s comrades tell him to hurry up or they’ll just shoot the Phantom, the surprisingly smart brute decides play time is over.
The bad news for Bruno is that the Phantom has decided the same thing.
Rocky Balboa would be pleased.
