I need to do an Internet Spotlight on Zen Pencils someday. Cartoonist Gavin Aung Than takes memorable quotes of inspiration and makes a comic out of it, and while I don’t always agree with some of the quotes he’s chosen based on my own perspectives, most of them are really good, and you many have seen the Calvin & Hobbs tribute he did recently that was a buzz on the net for awhile. (I retweeted it on Twitter myself.)
One of his comics, a rendition of a quote by comedian and podcaster Marc Maron recently got the attention of one of his fans, who went all out and produced a video based on it. The topic is how social media is affecting how social we actually are with the real world. It’s really quite good, but there is one moment that isn’t going to be good for the kiddies–and yet it’s important to the point Maron and Than were making.
The animator, Jess The Dragon, has other videos to watch as well, from other animations to a speed draw challenge. Here’s one of those with Tom from Toonami.
You can catch more at Jess’s YouTube page and personal website.
