Galactica The New Millenium

The prototypes for the Hall Of Doom didn’t impress Lex Luthor.

As you can tell, this was an anthology comic. It was intended to be an anthology title but Realm’s run didn’t go that long. It also DOESN’T have the conclusion to “Search For Sanctuary”, so we may never know how it ends unless the Special Edition had the full story in it. Surprisingly I can’t find a lot about the Realm Press comics outside of the “Season 2” comic.

Our first story is about Starbuck, as a therapist decides is he should be clear to fly. Meanwhile he’s trying to help…and hit on…a cadet. It’s a good, if slightly short, look into Starbuck although I don’t remember him being a womanizer. Maybe I need to watch the shows again but my recollection is that he stayed faithful to Cassiopeia.

In the second story a scientist tries to calm his son during a Cylon attack. There’s not much to say about it. I like how they focus on someone other than the regular cast to see how life is for them and I’m surprised there’s a kid other than Boxey even acknowledged in a Battlestar Galactica story besides Galactica 1980. It’s the weakest of the three stories, but still pretty good.

Our final tale is focused on Sheba when she was still on her father’s Battlestar, the Pegasus. The title card is the only scene that uses the painted style The story finds Sheba crashed on an alien planet and struggling to survive while Cain mounts a search and rescue operation. It’s also too short but I’d kind of hate to lose any of these three stories to lengthen any of the others. This shows how strong Sheba can be and why she’s a good match for Apollo.

Overall, a good set of stories, although I wish we’d get an end to the “Search For Sanctuary” story already! Fans of the classic series should keep an eye out for this one.
