School is buzzing with talk about Herobear and the Kid, but what has Tyler floating is Vanessa giving him a compliment when he stands up for Elmo. However, the Bullio Brothers are willing to drag him back down to earth. Where’s a super-powered teddy polar bear when you need him? And what new discoveries is Tyler about to make?
What they got right: You know, I think I get what draws me to this comic. I was Tyler, and part of me still is. A wild imagination (although I didn’t get lost in my fantasy world at the wrong time…at least not as often), pining for a particular girl…I just didn’t have a super-powered teddy bear or a butler. But I think a lot of kids can identify with Tyler. Some people want to be the hero and some just want to hang out with them. Tyler’s a bit of both.
What they got wrong: There wasn’t a lot of explanation in the epilogue this time. It just raised a few more questions, but now that Tyler knows that Henry knows what’s going on we should hopefully get a full explanation next issue. Which now I’m going to have to wait for, and having gotten so many issues so close together it’s going to feel a lot longer waiting for the final issue.
Recommendation: I really hope this series gets another story. This is one of those must-have comics for kids and kids at heart. If you haven’t gotten this yet, you really should.
