“Dead Man’s Hand” part 4 WRITER: Tony Lee ARTIST: Mike Collins SELECTED COVER ARTIST: Mark Buckingham COLORIST: Charlie Kirchoff LETTERER: Shawn Lee EDITOR: Denton J. Tipton
Someone will sacrifice themselves so the Doctor and Oscar can confront the T’Keyn. Events of The Forgotten come into play as Oscar and Reynard debate the future of planet Earth.
What they got right: Outside of the annual, this is a great ending to IDW’s run. Lee is my favorite Doctor Who comic writer and I’m glad he got in. Nods to his own work as well as other comics and the TV show (we even get the polarity of the neutron flow reversed plus references to the first episode) abound. He even ties the story back to his first tale for IDW. Whomever picks up the license really needs to hire this man.
What they got wrong: I really have no complaints.
Recommendation: It’s sad that IDW is losing this license. They’ve done better stories than they have with Transformers, but at least it ends on a high note…unless the annual ruins it. I want to get part one of this arc, and recommend the whole thing anyway for Lee’s return alone.

I like how we have a “humanity is evil so I’m destroying it” story where someone defends humanity’s right to exist rather than just stopping the bad guys. Want to see this as a requisite. Hear me, Japan?
