Castle makes a stand on the UN?

The Punisher Vol. 2 #64

Marvel Comics (June, 1992)

“Eurohit” part 1 of 7 “Arrivals”
WRITERS: Dan Abnett & Andy Lanning
PENCILER: Dougie Braithewaite
INKER: Al Williamson
COLORIST: Christie Scheele
LETTERER: Ken Lopez
EDITOR: Don Daley

Frank travels to the UK to take down a hitman called Snakebite, but Interpol is prepared for him and he escapes only with the help of a local version and fan, Nigel Higgins, who much like “The Punisher” has been called “Outlaw” by the local press. Coincidentally, Fisk is also in London, contributing to a new tunnel that Snakebite just happens to be…at. I’m not sure what he’s doing there but I image the next few issues will explain that and Fisk’s presence. Punisher and Outlaw attempt to capture (right, who am I kidding?) Snakebite but get caught in a firefight with a tunnel worker taken hostage. Nigel is hurt but the Punisher is in pursuit of Snakebite and his hostage.

What they got right: As far as the Punisher goes, I do like the idea of a British counterpart. (Take that, Batman Incorporated!) The art is rather good.

What they got wrong: I can already guess that Fisk and Snakebite being here signals a joint situation. Did Fisk hire Snakebite to take someone down, or is Fisk the target? The obvious link is a stretch, but I didn’t have anything else to put here.

Recommendation: This and the issue #2 I reviewed are the only stories that I might be interested in reading more of but not enough to hold on to them. Ultimately, I still really don’t care about the Punisher, but if I came across the first story or “Eurohit” as GNs or cheap digital downloads I might consider it. For the rest of you, there is a good story here (not surprising considering the writing team) and you may get more out of it than I did.
