First, an apology, In trying to get this year’s Christmas Video Review and Captain Yuletide done on time this skipped my mind.
Transformers Prime: Beast Hunters #8
IDW Publishing (December, 2013)
STORY: Mike Johnson & Mairghread Scott WRITER: Mike Johnson ARTIST: Augustin Padill COLORIST: Priscilla Tramontano SELECTED COVER ART: Ken Christensen LETTERER: Tom B. Long EDITOR; Carlos Guzman
I really need to get caught up on the Beast Hunters TV show because the ending was just ruined in this issue. Not their fault mind you, it’s mine. However, now I know that the energy bolt is connected to the end of the TV series, and why Optimus Prime isn’t here. But before the Autobots and Dinobots can reclaim their homeworld there’s the Forge and that loose Predacon to deal with.
What they got right: It’s an ending of new beginnings. Everything is wrapped up well thanks to the series’ pacing, and it ends on a high note.
What they got wrong: Too bad it’s ending, though. The first IDW Transformers series I can praise since their Fall Of Cybertron collaboration or Last Stand Of The Wreckers, I can’t help but wonder if there weren’t more stories to tell before the end of the series.
Recommendation: I hope Johnson and Mairghead get to write more Transformers comics and that they’re just as good as this and the Fall Of Cybertron were. This is a story to look up.
