Dr. Quest has a way to use Questworld to control robots to work on dangerous nuclear power plants, and heads to a Russian plant to test it. However, Vostok is there and this time he’s not Surd’s illusion. He wants to use the Questworld robots to turn the plant into a nuclear bomb. Luckily, the Quest team is able to outfox him and save the plant.
What they got right: From what I can tell, Vostok is another Real Adventures created character, and makes a nice foil for Race. It’s nice having a one-shot story but I think the first four-issue arc spoiled me on the pacing. I also like that they tried to make Questworld look different.
What they got wrong: I don’t like how it looks, but at least they tried. Everything looks filtered through some lens that makes everything stretched out. You could say that it’s to make using Questworld to control the robots look different from normal Questworld and I appreciate the effort but it’s still not the option I would have went with.
Recommendation: A good full-issue stand-alone story that’s worth checking into.
