Tired of Grimlock’s “leadership” Wheeljack calls his old friend Sky Lynx for help. He arrives just as the Ark catches up with Blast Off, still under Blaster’s control. The kids, dubbing themselves “Spacehikers”, toss Blaster out so he can sneak aboard the Ark. Then Grimlock uses the kids against Blaster and even Sky Lynx can’t help, forcing Blaster to surrender.
What they got right: Even if Sky Lynx’s personality didn’t match the guy in the show (neither did a lot of the comic versions and sometimes I preferred the comic version, as I do here) I like him. He isn’t the egotistical posh guy of the show and seems more like a soldier. The kids are used well in the story and I can handle Robin a bit better here.
What they got wrong: Personally, I wanted to see Blaster lead a revolt against Grimlock and get the Autobots back on track to what they should be doing…fighting Decepticons instead of each other.
Recommendation: The results of these events won’t be seen for quite a few issues yet but they are important. Otherwise, and maybe it’s the same tiredness that led to this review being so late, it was kind of average. It’s nothing spectacular but it isn’t bad, either.
