Scribblenauts Unmasked: A Crisis Of Imagination #3
DC Comics (May, 2014)
“The Enemy Revealed” WRITER: Josh Elder ARTISTS: Adam Archer (also cover) & Ben Bated COLORIST: Ian Herring LETTERER: Saida Temofonte EDITOR: Alec Antone
Maxwell and Lilli go to the Watchtower as they and the Justice League try to figure out what’s going on. They receive a call from Rann, where the skies have gone red, which they believe is tied into the problems they’ve been having on Earth. On Rann, they are attacked by the Yellow and Red Lanterns who work for the one behind all this. Also on his team is Psycho-Pirate who is able to get his whammy on Batman as Wonder Woman unknowingly lets a mind-controlled Steve Trevor aboard the Watchtower. And that villain is…hey, I’m not going to reveal everything!
What they got right: Another fun story, with just enough cute without driving some people away. Maxwell is as interesting with his notebook as Kyle Rayner is with his ring. I like his “space cowboy” get up. The villain reveal is a good surprise.
What they got wrong:
SPOILER: Sorry, it still doesn’t hold a candle. Baby robosaur gets a +2 awesome bonus. I give you credit for trying, though. (See below.) And you can still claim one of my favorite Superman stories.
Recommendation: This is a lot more fun than the New 52. Pick this one up.
It’s also the first time the word “selfie” didn’t annoy me. For her it works.
