Captain America Vol. 2 #6
Marvel Comics (April, 1997)
“Soldiers” & “Industrial Revolution” epilogue PLOT/PENCILER: Rob Liefeld WRITER: Jeph Loeb INKERS: John Sibal & Larry Stucker COLORIST: Andy Troy SEPARATIONS: Extreme Color COLOR FX: Don Skinner 3-D SHIELD IMAGING: Brian Murray LETTERS: Comicraft EDITOR: Eric StephensonI don’t know what happened last issue, but suddenly this issue Cable is standing next to Captain America and they’re fighting Baron Zemo, MODOK, and AIM, with the girl Bucky of the Reborn universe fighting…somewhere near them. Then after realizing (thanks to his mental powers) that this is the Captain America from his world, the machine that brought him here reverses.
The epilogue for “Industrial Revolution” is just Thor, Iron Man, and Captain America showing up in Nick Fury’s bedroom for some reason to announce the Avengers will now be funded by Stark. So that was a waste of time. Three pages. I feel like they fought to get this comic into a crossover that didn’t need another issue.
And there’s nothing right about the main story, either. The art is terrible, which is normal for Heroes Reborn, but most of the story, including unnecessary splash pages of Cable or Cap just standing there, is Cable going on and on about how awesome Captain America is. Is Loeb gay for Steve Rogers, because the same thing happened on a smaller scale with the Avengers comic from two weeks ago.
I’ve just been putting this comic in the selling bag but this one will the easiest to put in there. It’s a comic full of how awesome Captain America is and that gets boring after a while.
