Worlds' Finest #22

You get the feeling this is what Levitz wants to have happen?

Worlds’ Finest #22

DC Comics (June, 2014)

WRITER: Paul Levitz
PENCILERS: R.B. Silva & Yildiray Cincar
INKERS: Joe Weems, Wayne Faucher, & Cinar
BREAKDOWNS: Scott McDaniel
COLORIST: Jason Wright
COVER ART: Emanuela Lupacchino & Jason Wright
LETTERER: Travis Lanham
ASSISTANT EDITOR: Anthony Marques
EDITOR: Mike Cotton
GROUP EDITOR: Eddie Berganza
“HUNTRESS” CREATORS: Paul Levitz, Joe Staton, & Rob Layton
“POWER GIRL” CREATORS: Gerry Conway, Ric Estrada, & Wally Wood

Starting immediately when the last issue left off, Huntress isn’t convinced that what they saw was their world and still believes that she did the right thing…until she see evidence that confirms Power Girl’s insistence that it is. So Karen decides to sell most of the company she fought to gain back from Desaad and the two prepare to go home.

What they got right: It may end the series (and right now I’m not convinced that would be a bad thing) but I do like that our heroines may get to go home. Also Huntress needing more evidence shows her heritage as the daughter of Batman and Catwoman.

What they got wrong: Do we need a moment where Power Girl goes on about how cute the AU version of her old boyfriend is? Levitz still hates writing Power Girl as further evidenced by sticking in a flashback story of Helena’s early crimefighting attempts on this Earth that has nothing to do with this story. Is Levitz just trying to get rid of Power Girl and only do a Huntress comic?

Recommendation: Yeah, I’m finally done with this series. I wanted to see what happened when they met this world’s Batman and Superman and was underwhelmed. Maybe if there’s a new writer who wants to write for BOTH characters this will be more interesting.
