Galaxy Quest

This one is a link to a video I don’t have the permission to post (again, a big deal in the reviewing community) but it’s one that I found quite fascinating. SFDebris recently reviewed the sci-fi comedy Galaxy Quest, where actors from an old science fiction show learn that they influenced an alien culture they now have to save. However it’s not the review that I point to this but the follow-up. Sonnenberg’s point was that the movie, unlike a lot of stuff from Hollywood about fandom, wasn’t the usual slam of sci-fi fans but for a change treated them positively and then did a related video focusing on the art of storytelling and how that, and the connection to the audience, have changed since the day when people told stories only around a campfire because books, audio and video broadcasting and recording, and the internet had yet to be created. You should really take a look.
