The stuntman, or stuntwoman, is one of the most under-appreciated people in the movie business, somewhere above the Foley artist I think. We see them do the stunts and sometimes we can tell when they aren’t using the actor if the stuntperson doesn’t look enough like the actor or actress he or she is substituting for. However, are any of them ever famous? Unless your a stunt performer like Evel Knievel, nobody will have heard of you. So it’s nice that Larson not only made a show about stuntmen but made one into an action hero. Although I’m betting Lee Majors didn’t do his own stunts, either for the fictional movie or the show’s action scenes.
Majors played Colt Seavers, a freelance stuntman, who runs Fall Guys Stunt Co. To pay the bills inbetween gigs, Colt, his partner Jodi, and in the pilot, joined by his cousin Howie, takes on the role of bounty hunter. And of course they aren’t easy bounties, or this wouldn’t be much of a show about a stuntman/bounty hunter. Again I bring you the pilot, as Colt and Jodi put up with Howie while trying to find a friend of Colt’s, Country Joe Walker, who bailed. The pilot actually has two stories, but Walker pops up in the second one as well.
