Last week there was no fight. This week it’s back to the ring. We all like seeing Iron Man taking on other armored character. But what about two Iron Men fighting each other…and THEN Tony Stark shows up?

“Ghost” round 8
The Battlefield: Iron Man #196 (Marvel; July, 1985)
The Promoters: Denny O’Neil (writer), Rick Buckler (penciler), Ian Akin & Brian Garvey (inkers), Bob Sharen (letterer), and Rick Parker (letterer)
Doctor Demonicus has gotten control of the original Iron Man armor, while (long story) an interdimensional being called Onmos is wearing the then current model. Onmos is trying to return it to Rhodey. Demonicus (not knowing it’s not one of the usual wearers) wants to prove his superiority. Demonicus has all the ego of Doctor Doom but nothing to back it up except for a few homemade kaiju.
Give Onmos credit, though. It learn rather quick.
Then Tony, in the most ridiculous costume he could find, uses his knowledge of the armors, and a quintjet, throw Demonicus for a loop.
The more recent armor, however, can take more punishment, and Tony’s planning to deliver.
And while we can question why Tony would design his armors with the ability to magnetize themselves, at least his children stopped fighting.
