I’m getting too acquainted with death lately. I just lost my last grandparent, my grandfather (whom we called Poppy or Pop), just a month after losing my mother. And today word came that Leonard Nimoy, passed as well. While he wasn’t as close to me as my family he was a part of my childhood thanks to Star Trek, Transformers: The Movie (still the Galvatron in my head), and Zombies Of The Stratosphere (thanks to our cable access channel playing old movie serials and the edited movie version on other local stations). He was also on Mission: Impossible (which I never watched) and TJ Hooker (which I mostly watched because my mom did).
So needing something to make me happy this week, let’s use my favorite Spock comic moment for this week’s fight. When I tell you it involves Wolverine you’ll know which one I’m talking about if you’ve read the comic.

“Thunder” round 6
The Battlefield: Star Trek/X-Men (Marvel/Paramount Comics; December, 1996) “Star TreX”
The Promoters: Scott Lobdell (writer–yes, Scott Lobdell wrote my favorite comic Spock moment), Marc Silvestri (penciler of this section), Brian Ching (background assist) Batt (inker for this section, with various assists credited), Tyson Wengler, Steve Firchow, Johnathan D. Smith, & Richard Isanove (one of them did the coloring for this page), and Dennis Heisler (someone besides the writer who did the whole book? Fascinating. Oh, and letterer)
Spock has detected the X-Men on board the Enterprise. He’s up against Wolverine. It’s near-pacifist versus not-so-near stabby person.
That’s how we should remember Mr. Spock…taking down Wolverine. It makes things right with the world.
Head over to Spacebooger.com by Sunday night and vote for your favorite Friday Night Fight! (Forum membership is NOT required to vote, only to comment.) Winners of these 12 rounds head to the Prize Fight so feel free to join in. We could use the competition. Rules posted on Tuesdays.

I’m sorry to hear that your grandfather has also passed away. I also know what it’s like to have loved family members pass away one after the other. It’s very difficult to deal with. So my prayers go out to you, your father, and the rest of your family.
Leonard Nimoy was an excellent actor. Besides his role on Star Trek, I also admired Nimoy’s show “In Search Of” that explored mysterious phenomena. Whether it was the Loch Ness Monster, Big Foot, aliens, ghosts, etc.; Leonard Nimoy did an excellent job showcasing the mysteries of our world and universe.
Too many good people have passing on to heaven lately……
Rest in peace to all of them.
