Taurus Bulba appears to have won. Darkwing’s in jail and Gosalyn is in his custody along with her grandfather’s antigravity cannon. But he didn’t count on Launchpad getting Darkwing out of jail (as only Launchpad can) or that he would be such a fan that he would have a jet in DW’s likeness. The heroes break into Bulba’s flying fortress, but Bulba is able to force Darkwing to activate the Ramrod until Gosalyn is rescued. Darkwing puts the machine out of control but if Bulba is going down he plans to take Darkwing with him. Which fails when Drake Mallard (Darkwing’s real name) arrives at the orphanage to properly adopt Gosalyn.

What they got right: While missing some minor details it’s a good finish to the story. I’m not sure what else to say about it that can’t be gleaned from the summary.

What they got wrong: The problem with the black & white photograph is complete. Gosalyn was able to spit out the entire lullaby? Even the show, where Bulba’s vulture was playing stringless yo-yo with her, she wouldn’t be able to do that. Drake Mallard is never named. And he doesn’t wear the helmet when crashing Bulba’s fortress. Yes, that’s a minor moment, but it shows Darkwing’s growth and attachment to Gosalyn.

Recommendation: Darkwing Duck was one of the best superhero comedies ever produced. Either in comic or video form you should check it out if you haven’t.
